As part of the company's ESG activities, the Vindija food industry actively participated in the project of the Varaždin First Grammar School called "Waste Management Project", an initiative dedicated to raising awareness of responsible waste management.
Within the framework of the "Waste Management Project", cooperation between the Vindija Group and the Varaždin First Grammar School proved to be extremely successful. The Vindija Group actively participated in the project through the implementation of educational activities, achieving a significant increase in students' awareness of sustainable waste management practices. In addition to fitting into the wider activities of the Vindija Group's ESG department, this project represents a significant step towards achieving the goals set by the voluntary agreement on the prevention and reduction of food waste. With the signed agreement, Vindija and the company Koka joined the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Croatia as part of the project called "Together against food waste".
Cooperation on the "Waste Management Project" began in the autumn of 2023, through carefully designed educational activities focused on ESG topics for students of the Varaždin First Grammar School, who became more familiar with the challenges of waste management and the importance of shaping a sustainable future. On that occasion, Mr. Tomo Hunjak from the Department for Sustainable Development and ESG Business of the Vindija Group gave an inspiring lecture on the topic "Food waste - society and you", where, using the example of Vindija as a leading food company and students as consumers, he discussed the challenges generated by food waste and highlighted the key roles of different stakeholders in solving this complex problem.
The second in the series, a workshop called "Tetra Pak - Circularity and Recycling" was held during which Mr. Tomo Hunjak, together with Vindija's strategic partner Tetra Pak, demonstrated the mechanical use of paper from Tetra Pak multi-layer cardboard packaging. The interactive workshop gave the students insight into the technical characteristics of the packaging, which has been contributing to the high quality of the Vindija Group's products for many years. Building on these successful workshops, further activities are planned, including an educational visit by the students of the Varaždin First Grammar School to our plant, which will provide the students with the opportunity for a deeper understanding of the Vindija Group's operations, and will further enrich their participation in the project.
In this way, the Vindija Group strongly confirms its commitment to building a sustainable future through continuous cooperation with the local community. Through proactive initiatives aimed at education and raising awareness among young people, Vindija actively participates in solving key issues such as waste management and encourages others to take an active role in preserving the environment. Involving young people in sustainability initiatives contributes to the creation of a culture that will last even after their formal education, which then contributes to the creation of a society that cares for the environment in the long term.
