After the official announcement in March of this year, the Koka company, the largest poultry company that operates as part of the Vindija Group, has been ceremoniously awarded the certificate "PRODUCED WITHOUT THE USE OF ANTIBIOTICS" for a total of 60 products. Forty-nine of these belong to the well-known Cekin Chicken range, while 11 products belong to the Cekin Kids range, the first local line of chicken products intended for children’s healthy and high-quality nutrition. It is a certificate awarded by the internationally recognised certification company DNV Adriatica d.o.o. based on the STP 80 specification for production without antibiotics.
"We have proudly added the certificate ‘PRODUCED WITHOUT THE USE OF ANTIBIOTICS’ to the list of certificates and marks of quality and authenticity that our products already bear. This includes the mark ‘Proven Quality Croatia’ for poultry meat, the mark ‘MEAT FROM CROATIAN FARMS - born and bred in the Republic of Croatia’ and the trademark for the national project of the Croatian Institute for Public Health ‘Healthy Living’. Such professional certifications, which result from the strictest criteria and thorough quality tests, are proof that in our production processes the highest priority is given to the safety and health of our products," said Stjepan Sabljak, President of the Management Board of KOKA d.d.
One of the most important aspects of the certification process is poultry feed, which greatly affects the composition of meat and products, and the quality of which is ensured in the Vindija Group by its own production of animal feed at the Blagodar factory. The certification process involves a team of professionals from the certification company DNV Adriatica d.o.o., who are guided by strict criteria at every step of production. In Koka, this process starts from the free-range breeding of parent flocks of laying hens for the production of hatching eggs, through the hatchery of day-old chicks and fattening of broilers, to technological processing in our own meat industry and all its production facilities. The health of chickens and the quality and safety of poultry meat are taken care of at all times by our own veterinary service and a laboratory where over 100,000 analyses are carried out annually. Through this integrated process, Koka guarantees outstanding quality control and delivery of products directly to stores within the shortest times possible, thus ensuring the freshness and quality of the products that reach the final consumer.
The assortment of the Cekin brand that bears the label "antibiotic-free" includes a well-known range of chicken meat products, from whole chickens to all other products from cuts. This mark is also found on the products of the Cekin Kids range. This is the only such product line in Croatia, which is produced from chicken breast as the highest quality category of chicken meat, and which is unique in that it does not contain E-numbers, preservatives, additives, dyes and flavour enhancers and has reduced salt content. The products intended for the youngest are divided into three categories: fresh meat, a category that includes Cekin Kids skewers, breaded products such as Cekin Kids Crispy Pops, Little School and Dinos, and a category of processed products that includes Chicken Ham, Chicken Sausages, Extra Special Salami and Chicken Pate Kids.
"The awarding of the certificate itself is a significant moment for the Vindija Group and the company Koka d.d. because it represents the result of dedicated work and is a confirmation of the continuous focus on the highest standards of production and product control, from chicken breeding to the delivery of our chicken meat products to stores throughout the Republic of Croatia. As a leader in the local food industry, we have the obligation and responsibility to constantly invest utmost efforts in the quality and safety of our products, in order to provide consumers with only the best and the healthiest for them and their families. This certificate is additional confirmation that we are succeeding in this, but it is also motivation to continue our pursuit of excellence and to take new strides," concluded Nenad Klepač, President of the Management Board of Vindija d.d.
