KOKA, the leading domestic poultry company that operates as part of the Vindija Group, has fulfilled all the requirements for product certification under the Cekin brand with the label "PRODUCED WITHOUT THE USE OF ANTIBIOTICS". Koka thus became one of the first local food companies with this quality certificate, which is awarded by the certification company DNV Adriatica d.o.o. based on the STP 80 specification for production without antibiotics.
The "antibiotic-free" certificate will now be displayed on 49 different fresh meat products under the Cekin brand, among which are well-known classics such as whole chicken and other products from cuts. A product that is certified as "antibiotic-free" must be clearly identified in the entire production chain, which starts on the farm, with poultry feeding and chicken health care, and goes all the way to processing, control and packaging. One of the most important factors is precisely the nutrition of the poultry, which affects the composition of meat and products, as well as the very rigorously controlled and implemented technology on the farms. The testing and identification process is carried out carefully, and the measuring equipment is controlled at all times, as are handling, packaging, storage and delivery.
"Impeccable product quality and care for the well-being and health of consumers is an absolute priority for us. Therefore, every day we push the boundaries in the processes of rearing, controlling, packaging and labelling of our products, all with the aim of ensuring uncompromising reliability, which makes us a synonym for quality and a leading food producer on the local market. In addition to this key quality validation for us and our consumers, further proof is provided by additional certificates in the field of food safety," points out Stjepan Sabljak, President of the Management Board of KOKA d.d.
The fulfilment of all the strict criteria of Koka can be attributed above all to the production process, which is organised as integrated poultry production, from the breeding of parent flocks of laying hens for the production of hatching eggs, a hatchery for day-old chicks, fattening broilers, our own veterinary service and laboratory and the Blagodar feed factory all the way to the meat industry and to the production of final poultry meat products. Thanks to such a chain of production and distribution, Cekin's products arrive on store shelves throughout Croatia within a maximum of 24 hours.
Besides the recent certificates "Proven Quality Croatia" and "Produced without the use of antibiotics", which confirms the breeding of chickens without the use of antibiotics, Koka is the only company in Croatia to have its own mark "5 HR" which proves that all five stages of integrated poultry production are carried out in Croatia. Besides, let us remind you that Cekin's chicken is the bearer of the mark "Meat from Croatian farms - born and bred in the Republic of Croatia" issued by the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food/Ministry of Agriculture for original Croatian products with documented traceability from stable to table. Since 2021, Koka d.d. has been the holder of the mark for the national project of the Croatian Institute of Public Health "Healthy Living", which informs consumers that Koka products have the nutritional composition recommended for a balanced diet.
Product safety and quality are the basis of the operations of the leading poultry company in Croatia, and the production process in Koka complies with the current regulations of the Republic of Croatia and the EU. It is also certified in accordance with the relevant standards in food safety and health, such as IFS Food, BRCGS, AOECS gluten free and HALAL, safety and hygiene systems HACCP and SSOP, and the quality management systems ISO 9001.
All the above forms of recognition and quality certificates are the result of the strictest checks by accredited laboratories from the Republic of Croatia and the EU. They are the result of long-term concern about animal nutrition and health, as well as consistency in the implementation of the "from stable to table" principle, because concern for animal health means concern for people's health.
